March Quotes

Sydney:  (in my room)  I wish I had a room like this.  But not messy.

Bennett:  I am sick
Me:  No you're not.
Bennett:  Oh, I am not sick?
Me:  No, you are just fine!
Bennett:  Oh! That's a great idea!

Sydney:  I wish I was still in preschool!  Why do I keep growing???

Sydney:  Mom, you are so beautiful most of the time.  And not very pretty less of the time.

Bennett:  Oh, Mom! You bed is clean!  Good job!

Sydney:  You look old, Mom.
Me:  Oh yeah, what made you think of that?
Sydney:  Well, you have lines on your face, and . . . yeah, you just look old.

Me:  Okay, boys, time to turn off the TV--I need you to set the table.
Bennett:  Oh Mom, it's okay!

Bennett:  Good Morning, Mom!  We wake upped!

Me:  Bennett, do you need a diaper change?
Bennett:  I sure does.

Me:  Bennett, you can NOT open the door while we're driving, or you will die!
Bennett:  But, I NEED to die!
Me:  Not right now, you don't.

Bennett:  Can I have another donut?
Me:  No, you already had 2.
Bennett:  But they are SO DELICIOUS!!!
Me:  I know, but they are very bad for our bodies.
Bennett:  But I NEED another donut!

Morsels of March

Sean's Science Fair Project

Dallin prepped our growboxes for our gardens

Sydney and Daphne unwinding with some painting

A little picnic in the backyard.  I can't remember why Sydney was home from school, but we liked having her home.  Cheetos and sunshine.

Hayden made us all laugh when he stuffed this cow costume full of pillows, painstakingly climbed up the ladder and bellyflopped off the treehouse onto the trampoline.

I loved this sight off my balcony:
snacks and reading and homework up on the treehouse.

Easter 2016

March 27, 2016
Easter Sunday

We made waffles with berries and cream for breakfast.  Arthur caught me polishing off the berries and cream after the kids had left the table.

Hunting for eggs in the backyard.

Dallin was still in pajamas and unlike his brothers, didn't want to be in a picture in his pajamas.  The girls were smart and got dressed before going out to hunt for eggs.

Sister's Trip in CA

March 23-26, 2016
Modesto, CA

My parents invited all their daughters out for a sister's weekend in March.  We had a marvelous time!  Mom put fresh flowers from her garden in our rooms and made everything so lovely the whole time we were there.  Jen and I shared a room and the first night we stayed up late talking and giggling until my voice hurt.  Natalie and her kids arrived the next morning.  The other three weren't able to make it, and we sure missed them.  But Mom, Dad and the three of us had a marvelous time anyway.

One night we went to see Kristen Chenoweth in concert at the Gallo Center.  Kristen was lovely, and the concert was phenomenal.  We laughed and cried and smiled till our faces hurt.

The orange blossoms in my parents' yard smelled divine!

The next day, we drove out to Filoli to tour the estate and walk through the beautiful gardens.
What a delightful day!  That night we celebrated Dad's 60th birthday (no pictures of that unfortunately).

It was so fun to be together for the weekend!  I hope we get to do more of these in the future!

EMS Showchoir Showcase

March 12, 2016
EMS Showchoir Showcase
Eisenhower Middle School

The all-boys show choir Mike N Ikes is always fun to watch. This year their show is Mario Bros.  They are all Marios and Luigis and I smile the whole time I'm watching them sing and dance about Princess Peach and do their synchronized swimming.  Very entertaining.

Five Star's show this year also has a video game theme.  In fact each person of this 42-member group has a different costume!  (Yikes!!! Major props to the costume committee!)  There are Ninja Turtle characters, Pokemon characters, Wreck it Ralph characters, Pac Man characters etc.  It's very colorful.  Dallin is a "real boy" who gets sucked into the video game world and when it's "Game Over" at the end, all the characters fall down and Dallin walks off the stage back in the real world again.  Daphne is Mrs. Pac Man and I'm a little obsessed with her costume.  It's adorable.  They are still working really hard to be ready for their big competition in California next month where they compete against the nation's top middle school show choirs.

HHH Elementary Variety Show

March 4, 2016
Hubert Humphrey Elementary Variety Show
La Cueva HS PAC

Hayden and Sean both wanted to perform in their school variety show this year.  Hayden sang "Whistle a Happy Tune" and Sean sang a duet with his friend Ashley Lisonbee.  They sang "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better."  They all did a really great job and were among the highlights of the 4 hour long variety show!  Yep--4 hours.  Even with all the kids' numbers being 90 seconds long it goes FOREVER!  Needless to say, I didn't have to ask Dallin twice to babysit Bennett for the event.  He was more than happy to take one for the team by staying home with Bennett.

But despite the length of the event, I was really proud of both of these boys for having the courage to get up and sing for all those people.  They both have great voices and it makes me happy to hear them sing!  Hayden's performance pictures didn't turn out very well because we were sitting on the very back row.  At intermission we moved to some empty spots on the second row so Sean's pictures were a lot better.
