Upward Basketball 2015

January and February three of our kids played Upward Basketball.  Arthur coached Daphne and Hayden's teams with our friend Scott McEntire who had kids on each of those teams as well.  It's a little crazy for Arthur, but it worked out so great because we were able to get all of our kids practices on the same night.   And of course the kids love having their Dad coach them.  Sean's turn next time to have his Dad coach!

February Stuff

In February, we celebrated this boy's 2nd birthday!

He is such a funny kid, and is learning to say so many words.  He knows his colors, loves playing with his siblings (is so sad when Sydney is at preschool) loves playing with legos, wrecking Sydney's block creations, and watching "Barbie-Life in the Dreamhouse."  Yep.  We love him.

February is also the month of Valentine's Day.  We had a couple of basketball games that day, but we did a little Valentine's breakfast before dashing off to those.

My favorite people in the world.

In February, we also had a great storm that dumped enough snow to make a really good snowman.  The city cancelled just about everything and we had a perfectly lovely day enjoying snow and family time and warming up by the fire.

Jan/Feb Quotes

Good quotes from the last few months (plus some that I missed from last year.)

On the car ride home from Northstar, we were discussing where we all want to live when we grow up.  Here are some snippets of that conversation:
Daphne: I'm gonna live on a ranch in New York's countryside, and I'll vacation in Marcus's Vineyard.
Dallin: What do you want your husband's job to be?
Daphne: Whatever pays more so we can have lots of money to do fun stuff.
Dallin: I bet none of this stuff is gonna happen.
Daph: I bet mine will because Dreams come true!
Sean: I want to live in Florida, design my own house, and live next to Universal Studios and be a dentist.
Hayden: I'm gonna live in Hawaii and buy that Kona plantation.
Me: How are you gonna pay for it?
Daph: Sean's money!
Hayden: oh, oh, oh!  I'll be a doctor.
Dallin: And Bennett will be a professional golfer.
Dallin:  I guess I'll live wherever Heavenly Father wants me to go.
Daphne: Well I hope Heavenly Father tells me to live in New York.

Sydney: I wanna go to the car wash!  They have lollipops at the car wash!
Me: they do?
Syd: uh, actually no.

Sean: (appalled) Hayden, why did you take your shirt off on a SUNDAY??

Sydney to me:  I think you need to get up now because it really feels like morning.

Sean: Mom can you please sew my bear patch on because I look like a wimp next to all the other bears.

Sydney: My daddy gots to shave.  He has hairy legs!

Me to Sydney:  You and Daphne are the best ones in our family at keeping your room clean.  The boys have a hard time keeping their rooms clean.
Syd: And you and daddy have a very, very, VERY hard time keeping your room clean.

Sydney's preschool friend, Audrey: Sydney, here is a joke--why did the elephant cross the road?
Sydney:  hahaha!  That's a good one!

Hayden: What's a pipe bomb?

Me: Hey Sydney, we should probably do your laundry.
Syd: sigh...okay.  I hate doing laundry.
(Because she's the one that does it??)

Listening to hobbit music in the car.
Syd: I LOVE hobbit music!
Sean: Wouldn't it be great if we WERE hobbits?
Hayden: Yeah, I'd want to live at Bag End.

Dallin: Come on Daphne, I'm getting all these hashtags ready for you to play tic tac toe with me.

Sydney: Do princesses go to the bafroom?
Me: Yep.  Everyone goes to the bathroom.
Syd: Oh.  I didn't fink princesses went to the bathroom.

During dinner one night, Syd took one bite of asparagus, chewed slowly for awhile, then said with distaste:  This is NOT good for my body.

Daphne:  Mom, we should have parties more often.  It gets us more clean and civilized.

Sydney:  What does a yellow light mean?
Me:  That depends on who's driving.

Durango Ski Trip

January 29-31, 2015
Durango Mountain Resort, CO
aka Purgatory!

The day after Arthur's b-day we went up to Colorado where we stayed slope side few nights for a family ski trip.  It was great timing because it was right in the middle of the King and I rehearsals and we loved having that much-needed family time.   We stayed in a very cozy one room with a loft condo, and had a great time.  We celebrated Arthur's birthday, (which for some reason I couldn't find any pictures of, even though I know I took some!) and went skiing and watched "Support Your Local Sheriff" which is an old movie that the kids at first had misgivings about, but soon came around and now we all quote it regularly.  :)

We had a plentiful supply of hot chocolate!

Our deck looked out over the ski hill.

AND we finished the Book of Mormon as a family.  We've been working on that for 3 years, so that was a big deal.  We sat by the fire and read Moroni 10 together and prayed about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.  We enjoyed delicious cinnamon rolls afterward.  It was a very sweet experience.  (And not just because of the cinnamon rolls. ;)
