Robin's Nest

We've been keeping an eye on the robins who live in our sycamore tree in the backyard.  This past week, the eggs hatched, and we've been watching the mother robin as she feeds her new babies.  It is so cute.  The first shot is taken from up in the tree.  The birds were waiting with their mouths open for their mom to come back, but she wouldn't come since I was up there.  I got down and then she came, but the view isn't as good obviously.

I apologize in advance for the instability of the camera.  I was zoomed really far in and I think the camera moved every time I breathed.  (Also, the movie is much shorter than it looks.  there's a lot of dead time after the camera fades, so don't bother hanging around waiting for more.)

Rock Stars

My friend Susie Tallman makes Children's Music CD's. She is awesome. It's a lot of traditional folk songs, and nursery rhymes, but she does fresh arrangements with real instruments and good vocals. It's the kind of children's music that adults can enjoy too. Believe me, I've listened to some children's music that I just couldn't stand, it was so annoying! But I'm always singing and dancing along to these. Even Arthur doesn't mind listening to this music.

Well, she is producing a new album of Christmas music and it features some vocals by Dallin, Daphne and Sharee Gariety! (That just proves, it's all who you know. ;) You can't really hear us because we're mixed in a group of people. But it was still fun to be a rock star in the recording studio for a day. Keep your eye out for Susie Tallman's upcoming Christmas Album. You can check her website rockmebabyrecords.com for it's release, and she also distributes on Amazon. My favorite albums so far are Classic Nursery Rhymes and Children's Songs-Childhood Favorites. But I think this Christmas album will be awesome!!! It's good stuff, so check it out!

Bicycle! Bicycle! Bicycle!

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my BiKe!
(name the song and artist.)

For my birthday Arthur got me a shiny red bike. I am soooo excited. It made turning 28 worth it, I think. Until lately, I hadn't ridden a bike since I was little. You know how they say you never forget how to ride a bike? That statement is not entirely true. I have had to relearn a little bit. Arthur was laughing at me when I almost fell off the first time I got on it. And I almost crashed into a truck because I was trying to figure out how to turn. But I have been loving it!

The day after my birthday I rode my bike up to the temple to help pull weeds in the flowerbeds for a little while. It was a perfect day! Cool but sunny. Of course, it's much more fun to pick weeds at the Lord's house than it is at mine. And you can't beat the view. On my ride home I saw some quail and rabbits scurrying across the road, it was downhill all the way, and I was LOVIN' it! I am just so excited to have a bike to ride again. Thanks Arthur!

Glorietta Get-away

A couple of weekends ago, I got to attend a scrapbooking retreat with a bunch of friends.  I really enjoy scrapbooking but I hardly ever get around to it because it takes so long to even get all of my stuff out, let alone to sprout an idea for a lay-out.  One of these days I'll probably have to switch over to digital, but for now, I'm still doing the old-fashioned "by-hand" method.  I went up to a little conference center called Glorietta just north of Santa Fe.  They gave us a room to sleep in, all our meals for the days we're there, and a scrapbooking room where each of us gets our own table.  It's perfect.  We bought up all our scrap crap (Brian will appreciate that term)  and left it all out until it was time to go home.  We stayed for two and half days and scrapped, talked and shared ideas and supplies to our hearts' content.  I came home with ten two-page layouts!  Yahoo!  I think I have the best husband ever.  Thanks Arthur for holding down the fort while I got some creative outlet time.  You are AWESOME!!!

Above is one I actually did before I left.  So this is all the scrapbooking I've done year to date.  One layout in the first three months, and ten up at Glorietta in under three days.  The following pics are not as clear because I'd already put them in their sheet protectors and was too lazy to get them out again.  But you get the gist.

This one will look better when I get that left picture enlarged.

Super Why Sean

My favorite kid show these days is a PBS show called "Super Why."  I love it because it's Sean's favorite "kid show" and whenever the theme song comes on, he gets so excited and dances all around.  One morning, I heard that Super Why was coming up, so I got out the video camera to catch his sweet moves.  He just may be the next Napoleon Dynamite.
